The Nicomp® product line traces its origins back to 1977 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It was among the very first companies in the world to commercialize DLS technology for nanoparticle analysis, and remains known for its uniquely capable multi-modal algorithm that resolves closely spaced particle populations unmatched by conventional Gaussian analysis. Over nearly 50 years, the company — later renamed Particle Sizing Systems (PSS) — built a reputation for award-winning instrumentation. Throughout its history, Nicomp® has been recognized by global technology leaders: joining Agilent Technologies in 2008, followed by Entegris in 2018. In 2025, Alpharmaca Inc. acquired the Nicomp® Nano DLS/ZLS Systems, with NICOMP TECHNOLOGY LLC established to lead worldwide R&D, manufacturing, and customer support.
